This is an SSD enclosure for the Atomos Ninja V HDMI recorder. It was inspired by https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3949721 but this one doesn't require cutting the SSD enclosure—in this one you remove the SSD circuit board completely and screw it to the printed case.

Atomos would like you to pay 2x the cost of any other SSD just to get one that fits without poking out the side: https://www.angelbird.com/prod/atomx-ssdmini-by-angelbird-2110 This print will let you take a standard 2.5" SSD drive and fit it in half the space of the Atom X drives. This may actually help to improve cooling as well because the entire fan inlet is left uncovered.

Note I've come across two different sizes of circuit boards, a larger one from a Samsung 850 EVO and a smaller one from a 860 EVO. There are two files included, one with "large" in the filename that will fit the larger circuit board. I've only used these with 500GB drives but I've received confirmation from another person that a 1TB 860 EVO fits the smaller caddy. I would guess that all of the EVO line use a similar size and screw pattern to save on costs but I can't guarantee that! And I have no idea if the screw pattern is standard among other manufacturers.

Most SSDs are actually only an inch or two deep, the circuit board taking up nowhere near the full size of the 2.5" enclosure it comes in. This print takes advantage of that and makes it pretty much the minimum size it needs to be to fit the SSD and still be held in place by friction in the back of the Ninja.

SSD Disassembly

Remove the screws from the back of the enclosure. Two of them are under the sticker that covers the back (see image). You'll need two of those screws.

Enclosure Assembly

Place the SSD board "face down" (so you can't see the big black chips on the one side) and screw into the "atomos_ninja_ssd_bottom.stl" print. Click the "atomos_ninja_ssd_top.stl" print into place on the top. Slide it into the Atomos and you're done!
