A retro mouse shell that can house a Logitech M185 innards. This recreates the look and feel of an Atari ST mouse but with the additional wheel and none of the rubber ball.
To get the cleanest lines, I suggest standing the lid and the buttons up on end so the curves are smooth. The base and battery cover should be printed flat.
Undo the single screw inside a M185 mouse battery compartment to disassemble the Logitech components. You need the PCB, the wires for the battery terminals and the wheel on it's axel.
Fit the wheel axel back into the socket on the PCB and carefully press the PCB into the ST base. The wheel should press into the new brackets but you may have to press the pcb down on the front left and right to make it click into position. The PCB angles upwards to the front rather laying flat, so press the PCB down at the back and secure with an M3x8 countersunk screw at the rear-left. The battery terminals should rest in the correct position so ensure they've slotted in place in the battery cavity.
Press the buttons onto the lid and secure with an M3x8 countersunk screw.
The lid slots into the base at the back, then the front legs should press down to the floor of the base. You might need to flex them but they will sit above the holes in the floor. Insert two M3x8 or M3x12 screws into the base to hold the lid.
The battery cover slides from the back and holds the battery in place, so insert a AA battery flat negative end first then press the positive end into the mouse as far as it'll go. The battery cover hides the USB dongle and the power switch.
TIP: To make the buttons work correctly, they need to be positioned exactly and within 1mm of the microswitch contact. If you can't hear it clicking when you press the button, it may be too close. You can add thin washers to the inside of the case under the feet of the lid to raise it slightly. Also ensure the PCB is pressed into position front and back.
