This project introduces a lightweight, modular, fully 3D-printed music stand.
It was hard for me to find a design for a music stand online. Even if I found some, they weren't very portable and required a lot of consumables. So I decided to make my own. After several months of iterating and improving the printability, durability, and rigidity of various parts of the stand, I was very satisfied with the final result and decided to release it
The main goal of this project is to provide a 3D-printed bracket that takes advantage of all the benefits of 3D printing—especially its modular potential and the relatively light weight of PLA. Modularity means you can customize the height and potentially design variants of components like the head to adapt to wider or taller versions.
The main components of the music stand are the base, the height-adjusting rod, and the headboard. Each component consists of several parts:
Base:
- 3 legs
- 1 leg connector for the base
- 1 threaded rod
Height-increasing pole:
- 0, 1, or 2 lifting rods
Head:
- 2 connecting pins
- 1 base head
- 2 side headshots
You need to print a base and a head, but you can choose whether you need 0, 1, 2, or even more height-increasing rods. However, the higher it is built, the more unstable it will be ;)
For easy assembly, I've provided a guide that should help you finish it. When printing, please note that some circular parts may tend to warp—so be sure to add a brim or use glue on the print bed. I didn't use glue when printing all the parts, but I did add a brim when necessary. The default print settings should include a brim for the necessary parts, but this also depends on your printer and consumables.
There are also thin squares on both sides of the "side head", which connect the components to the print board. These squares are used to break off. They are just to better prevent the components entering the "base head" from warping than ordinary supports
