Parametric Heltec V3/V4 Case (Meshtastic)

This is a fully parametric remix designed to house Heltec V3 and V4 boards for Meshtastic nodes. It features a customizable enclosure that has been tested to scale from 60x40x30 mm all the way up to 150x150x100 mm, allowing you to perfectly fit your specific battery and hardware setup.

Features & Compatibility

• Primary Design (Heltec V4): Modeled specifically for the Heltec V4.

  • Note: There is a group named V3_Modifier at the very end of the Fusion360 timeline. If you are using a V4 board, you can safely delete this group. It's not needed for you, but it doesn't strictly get in the way either.

• Backward Compatibility (Heltec V3): Fully compatible with Heltec V3. The buttons will sit approximately 0.3mm deeper, which makes them slightly less tactile but fully functional.

• Screwless Assembly: The Heltec holder relies on printer tolerances and is held firmly in place by the back shell once closed. No screws or glue are required in theory. The same goes for the enclosure itself.

  • Note: If your printer has very loose tolerances (better than my Ender 3), you might need a drop of glue, or you can simply adjust the tolerance parameter in the file.

• Two Versions:
  1. FrontAntenna: Antenna mounted in the front shell.
  2. BackAntenna: Antenna mounted in the back shell (shown in the photos).

Parametric & Size Guide

• Default Size: 70 x 50 x 30 mm (Fits two 1500mAh Li-Po batteries in the BackAntenna configuration).

• Tested Limits:

  • Minimum: 60 x 40 x 30 mm (LxWxH).

  • Maximum: Up to 150 x 150 x 100 mm (LxWxH).
    (Note: At bigger sizes, the Heltec holder design becomes ridiculously inefficient. For very large boxes, I recommend cutting the holder height-wise in your slicer so it won't reach all the way to the end of the shell, and then using some glue to hold it in place.)

Technical Tips

• Extrude44 Warning: When enlarging the box, this feature in the timeline may turn yellow. Ignore it. It handles the external USB connector clearance and is no longer needed for larger dimensions.

• Height Ratio: If you encounter issues with the shell height ratio parameter, use this simple workaround: Export one shell at your desired minimum height (e.g., 30mm), then change the total height (e.g., 150mm) and export the other shell. They will remain fully compatible.

• Antenna Cable: When shortening the length (L) while using the FrontAntenna version, ensure there is enough clearance so the antenna cable doesn't collide with the Heltec board.
