Designed this to make our normal fruit fly trap look a little more festive, as we have it on the kitchen counter next to the bananas, where the fruit flies like to congregate. 

No support needed. It does have a lip, and you can resize it to your container. We use a combination of apple-cider vinegar, water, and some dish soap as the brew.
