Print in vase mode, preferably with a translucent filament.
The minimal surface connecting the edges of a cube has three stable states. Each has a square in the middle, but the square can be perpendicular to the X,Y, or Z-axis. The resulting shape is surprisingly sturdy, even with the very thin walls printed in vase mode.
This model is an approximation of this minimal surface. In reality, the center face really isn't a square, but has slightly curved edges. If I can find math equations describing the actual curve, I will make an updated model. This is at least not nearly so fragile and fun to examine and play with in the mean time.
