Notes:
For Precious hand(terminal device) was printed in brown PLA, but originally TuuTree Terminal device is designed to be printed in TPU(ex. PolyFlex, NinjaFlex).
Socket was printed in PLA. If possible print in high templ PLA or PETG to have ability to termoform socket around limb, but avoiding too low melting temp. Regular PLA socket can be damaged for leaving in hot car or room within couple of hours.
Socket should be printed in 100% infill to fully avoid PLA wrinkling when heat-formed.
Post-Printing
Socket was cushioned with foam padding for comfort and sanitary precautions. Foam is easily changeable when needed.
Shape of socket was heat-formed towards residual limb to achieve full control over prosthetic device and elbow range of motion.
How I Designed This
This device was fitted togeather with local interns from Yola, Nigeria, who are establishing local innovation HUB, where part of HUB's activities is to utilize 3D printers to help displaced people in need for assitive devices.
Precious was local volunteer to participate in training session for interns on how to use 3D printers and how to modify STL files to fit recipient.
