This requires a multi-material printer. Please refer to the included gcode and PrusaSlicer 3mf project file for a reference for how to print the checkerboard pattern.

Microchess is a Chess variant invented by Glimne in 1997. It uses a small 4x5 board, with a reduced number of pieces. There is no queen starting on the board, and only a single pawn.

The rules of chess apply, with the following differences:
Pawns have no double-move option.
There is no castling.
Pawns can promote to any of the four pieces as in chess, including queen.

The pieces and board are intended to be magnetized. There is a storage tray with a magnetic latch.

There are three different sizes included, scaled down from a full sized FIDE set. They are:
0.50 scale: 5.8" x 4.8" x 1.2", uses 6x3mm magnets
0.33 scale: 3.8" x 3.8" x 0.8" uses 4x2mm magnets
0.25 scale: 2.9" x 2.9" x 0.6" uses 3x2mm magnets

If you only want the board and no storage, print “Microchess board.stl”. Otherwise, print the other files. The top and bottom are glued together.
