Design Concept
This shelving system combines a rustic, natural wood aesthetic with industrial-inspired 3D printed components. The design features a specialized "edge-wrap" bracket system that not only supports the shelf from underneath but also caps the ends for a clean, framed look. The bracket incorporates a triangular truss structure to maximize load-bearing capacity while maintaining a slim, minimalist profile.
Purpose
Designed specifically for "live-edge" or standard timber planks, this mounting system is ideal for creating decorative wall storage. It is suitable for displaying books, plants, or office equipment in residential settings or professional workspaces, providing a secure and stylish floating shelf effect.
Printing Suggestions
For structural integrity, print the brackets with at least 40-50% Gyroid or Cubic infill. Increase the wall loop count to 4 or 5 to ensure the screw mounting points are reinforced. PETG or PLA+ are recommended for their rigidity and strength. To achieve the best surface finish and strength, print the brackets on their side to optimize layer adhesion against shear forces.
Assembly Instructions
Prepare the Shelf: Slide the "shelf_edge" components onto the ends of your wooden plank to ensure a snug fit.
Bracket Mounting: Align the main brackets on the wall using a spirit level. Mark and drill holes for wall anchors.
Wall Attachment: Secure the brackets firmly to the wall using appropriate screws and anchors.
Final Setup: Place the shelf plank onto the brackets. Use short wood screws through the pre-modeled holes on the underside of the brackets to lock the shelf in place and prevent sliding.
