This is a pretty barebones ring substitute for universal pads you can get pretty much anywhere, this way you can change pads with relative ease and avoid harvesting the clip rings from the original pads. Especially now that you cannot get pleather pads anymore, and harvesting the other pair that is probably unused feels like a crime since those aren't cheap.

These are not perfect, but they worked pretty well for me after some fine-tuning. Pictures will show the printed piece (prototypes) and the pads fully mounted. They feel sturdy, don't come off easily and most importantly, are invisible.

Important notes:

• Do a test print to check the tolerances. The original solvespace project is in this project in case you want to change things.
• There are 95mm (original sized pads - untested) and 100mm rings included. The pictures of the headphones are mounted with 100mm pads.
• The project allows you to change the ring size to any size you want. Changing the ring size will not move the pins (I hope!)

I'm not responsible for any damage done to your pads and/or headphones! Triple check if everything fits and is sturdy before assembling.

How to mount:

Make sure to check if the rings properly fit the headphones before doing this. They should go in and leave only a very, very short gap between ring and headphones. Try taking it on and off a few times to ease it in. Sometimes, rotating the ring can make it fit better if it doesn't immediately stays in place.

• Pull the glove of the pad around the ring. Some might be harder than others, try to push with your finger from the inside of the pads to give it a lift.
• Position the ring in place and make sure the pad stitch is facing the bottom (you can rotate the pad in this position with ease)
• Start pressing the pad until it goes in. Try pressing with two hands at two closest points at the same time. If the size is correct, the rings shouldn't feel loose.
• Lightly pull the pad to see if all pins are correctly inserted. If it stays in place, it's good!

How to unmount:

• Put your fingers on the inside of the pad and pull it from under the ring. Do not pull the pads, that also applies for the original pads!

What can be improved:

• better pin system like the original (beyond my skills at the moment)
• a small indent to allow pads to be inserted by rotation (might even work with the rings already mounted)
• some clean up to remove unnecessary plastic and make the constraints more reliable (not sure if it's reliable at smaller or bigger sizes than 100mm)
