This is a minimalist filament swatch — nothing fancy, just a clean, flat sample that prints fast and gives you a reliable surface for comparing colors, checking finish, and showing off your filament collection. It's the same swatch used to measure every Prusament PLA color with a colorimeter, so the geometry is dialed in for consistent, repeatable results.
Whether you want to build your own physical color library, share swatches with the community, or just have a quick test print to dial in a new spool, this is the model for the job.
Why this design?
Flat, simple geometry → fast to print, easy to measure
Enough surface area for a colorimeter or accurate eyeballing
Stackable / storable — easy to organize a growing collection
Uses minimal filament per swatch
Recommended print settings horizontal
Layer height: 0.2 mm (for speed — no need to go finer)
Top layers: 10
Bottom layers: 10
Infill: doesn't matter much with that many solid layers, 15% is plenty
Supports: none needed
Filament: any — that's the whole point :)
Recommended print settings vertical
Layer height: 0.2 mm (for speed — no need to go finer)
Perimeters: 10

Filament: any — that's the whole point :)
⚠ Important: the 10/10 layer count
The high top and bottom layer count is not optional if you care about accurate color. Fewer layers let light pass through the print, and the build plate or infill underneath will tint the color you see (and measure). 10 top + 10 bottom layers at 0.2 mm gives you 2 mm of solid material on each face — opaque enough that the swatch shows the true color of the filament, not a translucent blend.
If you're just doing a quick test print and don't care about color accuracy, you can drop this — but for swatches you'll actually compare or measure, keep it at 10/10.
Notes
Happy printing — and if you build out a any Vendor collection with these, I'd love to see photos in the Makes section!
