This is a replica of a faceplate for the NEC FD1165 series 8-inch floppy disk drives. In particular the FD1165-A was often built into the chassis of the NEC Advanced Personal Computer, and a drive re-used from such a machine will lack the faceplate. This model, based on the faceplate of the FD1165-FQ model, should be a fitting replacement.
Please pay attention to print orientation. With an extrusion-printer, the best results have been with the final model upside-down with a slight angle, so that the back edge of the wings for the mounting-screws just about touches the bedplate (typically -100 degrees rotation around the X-axis). This also ensures symmetric and strong printing of the mounting-clips, which are modelled to have a very exact fit horizontally and need to withstand some pull without snapping.
Supports are mostly needed everywhere, except for the back wall text and mark. A slightly flexible material with minimal warping is recommended, i.e. this is likely to work very poorly with hard brittle resin.
