Name & Domain
Azura, Lady of Twilight
Alignment: Neutral Good (with mysterious tendencies)
Domains: Twilight, Fate, Secrets, Dreams
Symbol: A crescent moon cradling a star
Colors: Deep indigo and silver
Core Concept
Azura is a celestial-like entity who governs the liminal spaces between day and night, life and death, truth and illusion. She is revered as the Mistress of Dusk and Dawn, a being who whispers secrets through dreams and guides mortals through transitions—whether spiritual, emotional, or cosmic.
Unlike typical gods, Azura does not demand worship through temples or rigid dogma. Instead, she favors personal devotion, oaths, and acts of destiny. Her influence is subtle: a dream that changes a life, a prophecy that alters a kingdom, or a twilight ritual that seals a pact.
Personality & Motives
Azura is enigmatic yet benevolent. She values truth revealed through hardship and beauty born from change. Her motives often involve:
Testing mortals with trials that reveal their true selves.
Preserving balance between light and shadow, preventing extremes of good or evil.
Rewarding loyalty and punishing betrayal, often through poetic justice.
Followers & Worship
Common Worshippers: Seers, mystics, elves, tieflings, and those who live by fate (bards, warlocks, and twilight clerics).
Cult Practices:
Twilight Vigils: Meditations at dawn or dusk to seek visions.
Moonlit Oaths: Binding promises made under the crescent moon.
Dream Offerings: Burning herbs before sleep to invite Azura’s guidance.
Her followers often act as prophets, dream interpreters, and keepers of secrets, but they are also known for vengeance against oathbreakers.
Artifacts & Relics
Star of Twilight (Legendary): A crystalline focus that can trap souls or channel immense magical energy.
Moonshadow Veil: A cloak that allows the wearer to step into the Ethereal Plane during twilight hours.
Dawnfang & Duskfang (Twin Blades): Weapons that shift properties based on the time of day.
Azura’s Realm
Moonshadow, a serene yet surreal plane bathed in perpetual twilight.
Landscape: Silver lakes, violet skies, and crystalline flora.
Inhabitants: Dream spirits, twilight elementals, and Azura’s chosen emissaries.
Traits: Time flows strangely; visions of possible futures manifest as illusions.
Role in Your Campaign
Azura can serve as:
Patron for Warlocks: Offering powers tied to fate, dreams, and twilight magic.
Guide for Prophecies: Her visions can drive major plot arcs.
Neutral Arbiter: In conflicts between gods or planes, Azura seeks balance.
Source of Mystery: Her motives are never fully clear, making her a compelling figure for intrigue.
D&D Mechanics Suggestions
Cleric Domain: Twilight (from Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything) fits perfectly.
Warlock Patron: Create a custom “Twilight Patron” with features like dream manipulation, fate weaving, and shadow teleportation.
Boons: Azura’s blessings could grant advantage on Insight checks, dream-based divination, or resistance to psychic damage.
Otherworldly Patron: Azura, Lady of Twilight
Azura, the Lady of Twilight, walks the liminal paths between dusk and dawn, and between truth and dream. She tests mortals with visions, keeps oaths sacred, and rewards loyalty with revelation. Those who bargain with Azura find themselves guided by whispers of fate, stepping through moonlit veils, and wielding power that turns shadow into truth and truth into radiance.
Expanded Spell List
Azura lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.
1st level: faerie fire, sleep
2nd level: calm emotions, misty step
3rd level: clairvoyance, hypnotic pattern
4th level: greater invisibility, divination
5th level: dream, modify memory
Theme notes: Luminescent revelation (faerie fire), liminal movement (misty step), second sight (clairvoyance, divination), dreamcraft (dream, modify memory), and twilight glamours (greater invisibility, hypnotic pattern) echo Azura’s domain of beauty-through-change and truth-through-vision.
Level 1: Moonshadow’s Blessing
Azura marks you as her dusk-born.
Twilight Sight. You gain darkvision out to 60 feet. If you already have darkvision, its range increases by 30 feet. In dim light or darkness, you have advantage on Insight checks as the twilight reveals truths in mannerism and mood.
Dreamwhisper. While you can see a creature within 30 feet, you can telepathically speak to it as long as you or it is in dim light or darkness. The creature understands you even if you don’t share a language, though it must be able to understand at least one language. This telepathy doesn’t allow you to read thoughts or respond if the target chooses not to.
You can use this telepathy to send a brief sentence (up to 20 words) to a sleeping creature you know, regardless of distance, once per long rest; the message is experienced as a clear fragment of a dream.
Level 1: Duskstep
As a bonus action, you can step through the veil between shadows.
Effect. Teleport up to 10 feet to a space you can see that is in dim light or darkness, and you are lightly obscured until the start of your next turn.
Uses. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.
Balance note: A short, conditional teleport that rewards playing in shadow, tuned to PB per rest for scaling without overshadowing Misty Step at 2nd level.
Level 6: Veil of Moonshadow
Azura cloaks you in starlit shade when danger finds you.
When you take damage or become the target of an attack, you can use your reaction to vanish into twilight: you become invisible until the end of your next turn or until you attack or cast a spell, and you can teleport up to 30 feet to a space you can see that is in dim light or darkness.
While invisible from this feature, you have resistance to psychic damage.
You can use this feature once, and you regain the use when you finish a short or long rest.
Design cue: This mirrors the defensive mobility of patrons like the Archfey’s Misty Escape, with Azura’s spin (dim-light restriction and psychic resilience).
Level 10: Twilight Ward
You are warded by dusk and dawn alike.
You can’t be affected by magical sleep.
You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.
You have resistance to psychic damage.
In dim light or darkness, illusions strain to deceive you: you have advantage on Intelligence (Investigation) checks to discern an illusion and on saving throws against illusion spells.
Play pattern: Rewards positioning in twilight and reinforces Azura’s themes of clarity through shadow and dream-hardened mind.
Level 14: Moonshadow Exile
You banish a foe into Moonshadow, Azura’s twilight realm.
When you hit a creature with an attack, you can force it to make a Charisma saving throw against your warlock spell save DC. On a failure, the target is banished to Moonshadow until the end of your next turn. While banished, it is incapacitated, perceives visions of possible fates, and can’t take actions or reactions.
When the target returns, it takes 8d10 psychic or radiant damage (your choice), and is blinded until the end of its next turn as reality settles from twilight’s visions.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
Analogue: A thematic counterpart to the Fiend’s Hurl Through Hell, trading a bit of raw damage for a 1-round removal and a rider on return.
Azura-Themed Eldritch Invocations
You must have Azura as your patron to choose any invocation marked (Azura). Prerequisites appear in parentheses.
Moonlit Stride (Azura, 5th level)
You can cast misty step without expending a spell slot a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
When you do, a 10‑foot‑radius zone of soft twilight lingers at the departure and arrival spaces until the start of your next turn; creatures of your choice in the zone have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks and disadvantage on saving throws against your illusion spells.
Dream Scribe (Azura, 7th level)
You can cast dream once per long rest without expending a spell slot or requiring the material component. Your messenger never takes damage from the spell. When you target a creature you have met, the target has disadvantage on its save to resist the message’s influence.
Star of Twilight Adept (Azura, 9th level)
Once per turn when you deal radiant or psychic damage with a warlock spell or your pact weapon, add your Charisma modifier to that damage.
Moonshadow Familiar (Azura, Pact of the Chain)
Your familiar becomes a twilight emissary. It can cast silent image once per short rest, and has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks in dim light or darkness. While you can see your familiar, you gain a +5‑foot increase to walking speed.
Twilit Blade (Azura, Pact of the Blade)
Your pact weapon can deal radiant or psychic damage (choose each time you finish a short rest). In dim light or darkness, when you hit with your pact weapon, you can teleport 5 feet to a space you can see. This movement doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks.
Oracle of Dusk (Azura, Pact of the Tome, Book of Ancient Secrets)
You inscribe Azura’s signs and sigils. Add augury and divination to the spells you can cast as rituals via your Book of Ancient Secrets. When you complete a ritual with these spells during dawn or dusk, roll a d4 and add the result to one attack roll, ability check, or saving throw you make before the end of the next hour.
Roleplaying Azura’s Warlock
Oaths and Promises. Azura rewards kept oaths and punishes betrayal. Swearing vows at dawn or dusk can be sacred rituals for your character.
Beauty in Change. Seek turning points—help others through transitions: grief to acceptance, ignorance to insight, winter to spring.
Dream Signs. Let dreams, omens, and the colors of twilight guide your choices. Journal your dreams and interpret them as Azura’s portents.
Patron Quirks
You instinctively pause at dawn or dusk to watch the sky, feeling Azura’s presence.
Your shadow sometimes shimmers with starlight or flickers half a heartbeat off your movements.
Reflections of you in water or glass occasionally whisper in a voice only you can hear.
DM Hooks & Adventure Seeds
The Broken Oath. A noble swore a moonlit promise then betrayed it. Azura’s omen falls on the land—a twilight that won’t lift—until the oath is righted.
The Star of Twilight. A crystalline relic has resurfaced; it can store visions of possible futures. Every faction wants it—and Azura’s warlock dreams of the most dangerous bearer.
The Double Dusk. An omen predicts two dusks in one day, heralding a convergence of planes. Your warlock must thread fate through Moonshadow to keep the balance.
Design & Balance Notes
Mobility & Defense: Early short-hop teleport (conditional), mid-tier invis-teleport reaction, and psychic resilience tune the subclass towards control/defense without eclipsing damage patrons.
Thematic Control: Expanded spells emphasize illusions, movement, second sight, and dreams—playing well with battlefield control builds.
Capstone Choice: A once/day banish mirrors existing patron power budgets while adding a flavorful rider.
Artifacts & Rewards
Star of Twilight (Legendary): Functions like a hybrid of Ioun Stone and Soul Cage, with unique properties:
Soul Prism: Can trap a creature’s soul (as soul cage).
Fate’s Glimmer: Once per long rest, cast foresight for 1 minute.
Planar Veil: Prolonged use risks opening a rift to Moonshadow.
Moonshadow Veil (Rare Cloak): Grants Ethereal Step in dim light once per short rest.
Dawnfang & Duskfang (Twin Blades): Shift damage type (radiant/psychic) based on time of day.

Divine Traits
Avatar of Twilight
Azura exists in a state between dusk and dawn. Magical darkness or bright light within 300 ft. of her becomes dim twilight, and she can see through any obscurement created by magic or terrain.
Fatebound
Whenever a creature within 120 ft. of Azura rolls a d20, she may force them to roll twice and take the result she chooses (no action). She can do this 3 times per round, but no more than once per creature per round.
Dreamsovereign
Azura is aware of the dreams, intentions, and current emotional state of all creatures within 1000 ft. Nothing can be hidden from her by illusions, charms, or divinations.
Mythic Trait: Twilight Ascendant (Triggers at 0 HP)
When reduced to 0 hit points, Azura dissolves into starlit shadow and reforms at the center of her space with 300 hit points, shedding all conditions.
In this form:
Her AC becomes 27
She gains resistance to all damage
Her movement becomes fly 120 ft. (hover)
She gains additional mythic actions
While transformed, the environment within 500 ft. becomes Moonshadow, filled with shimmering illusions and drifting starlight. All enemies treat the area as difficult terrain and must make a DC 20 Wisdom save at the start of their turn or be charmed or frightened (Azura’s choice) for 1 minute.
A party that defeats this second phase earns additional rewards.
Actions
Multiattack
Azura makes three attacks with Starsear or casts two spells.
Starsear
Melee Spell Attack: +18 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target
Hit: 38 (6d8 + 10) radiant or psychic damage (Azura’s choice), and the target must make a DC 20 Wisdom save or be blinded until the end of their next turn.
If the target is blinded by this attack three times, they instead become permanently blind (remove curse ends).
Moonshadow Burst (Recharge 5–6)
Azura releases a wave of starlit shadow.
Creatures of her choice within 120 ft. must make a DC 22 Charisma save or take:
70 (20d6) radiant damage
and become incapacitated until the end of their next turn
On a success: half damage, no incapacitation.
Twilight Prophecy
Azura chooses one creature she can see. The target must make a DC 22 Wisdom save:
On a fail: the creature becomes Fate‑Marked for 1 minute.
Attacks against it have advantage.
It has disadvantage on saving throws.
Once per round, Azura can cause it to take 20 radiant or psychic damage automatically.
The creature can repeat the save at the end of its turns.
Spellcasting
Azura casts spells with Charisma (DC 22, +14 to hit). She can cast the following without expending slots:
At will:
detect thoughts, calm emotions, dream, misty step, moonbeam (5th‑level), dispel magic
3/day each:
sunbeam, wall of light, greater invisibility, forcecage, true seeing
1/day each:
time stop, foresight, maze, power word stun, divine word
Legendary Actions (3/round)
1. Duskstep
Azura teleports up to 60 ft. to a space of dim light.
2. Starlight Lash
Azura targets a creature within 120 ft.

3. Fate Shift (Costs 2 actions)
Azura forces a creature to re-roll any die it rolled this turn.
4. Moonshadow Rift (Costs 3 actions)
Azura tears a small rift to her realm:
20‑ft radius area becomes difficult terrain
Creatures that begin their turn inside take 18 (4d8) psychic damage
Azura chooses 1 creature inside to be blinded until the start of its next turn
Mythic Actions (Only in Twilight Ascendant form)
1. Reality Bend
One target must succeed on a DC 22 Charisma save or be banished to a vision of its possible future.
While banished, it is incapacitated.
It returns at the end of its next turn, taking 40 (9d8) psychic damage.
2. Moonshadow Duplicate
Azura creates an illusory clone.
The clone:
Shares her space
Makes one attack each turn
Has AC 20, 50 HP
Is destroyed if hit by any attack
Azura cannot take this action again until the clone is destroyed.
3. Eclipse Nova (Costs 3 actions, Recharge 6 in mythic form)
A massive explosion of starlight erupts:
All creatures within 200 ft. must make a DC 23 Con save
On fail: 120 (30d6) radiant damage & blinded
On success: half damage, not blinded
This ability cannot be used outside mythic form.
Lair Traits (Starwatch Observatory or a Moonshadow Nexus)
At initiative count 20 (losing ties):

Defeating Azura’s avatar (not truly killing her) grants each party member one of the following, chosen:
• Azura’s Sight:
Truesight 60 ft. at will.
• Moonshadow Step:
Teleport 30 ft. as a bonus action, PB/day.
• Fate‑Touched:
Once per long rest, treat any roll you make as a natural 20.
