Summary
This is a design that will greatly enhance the mounting strength and safety of your home dance pole.
This should work on many of the "expand to fit" dance poles on the market. It requires that the hole have a pole end sticking through the top cap that is about 2.25" in diameter.
The problem with the way these poles are mounted is that they rely solely on frictional (F=µN) force to keep them upright. Strong transient forces can overcome the static friction and leave you crashing to the ground in some potentially vulnerable positions.
This mount captures the top cap and if you ever break the friction of the OEM mount, you will then have to overcome the shear force of a 1/4" lag screw (around 2000 lbs). You would have to be very large or spinning very fast to defeat this mount.
The other advantage is that this mount allows for precision positioning of your pole.
This was designed around the "amzdeal" brand pole, but most of them look the same.

Installation
To install, you will need a 2-1/2" long 1/4" lag screw and matching washer.
- Locate a stud in your ceiling and pick the location you want to mount your pole.
- Pre-drill a hole.
- Screw the 1/4" lag screw and mount cap to the ceiling tightly.
- Place top of pole in center hole of ceiling cap. The bottom should be off the ground. You'll know you hit the hole when the top can only wiggle around by a few millimeters.
- Expand the pole until the bottom is touching the ground. You can let go of the pole, as it will stand upright now.
- With a level on the pole, move the bottom until you are level in all directions.
- Crank the tightness of the pole screws.
