I have added a Jig, that will help to make sure the all spikes are sticking out the exact distance. I my case that is 4mm. The maximum that is allowed according to the regulations of the race.
Thread needs to be cut in the 2 holes, so 2 M4 screws can be fitted for the adjustment.
I have printed it in ABS with a 0.6 nozzle

This wheel with spikes I created for the annual ice race in Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
It uses a M-chassis rim, that have to be glued to the "tire"
The nails that have be used have a diameter of 2 mm and a length of 13 mm. 24 pieces per wheel
The holes for the nails are tight. With a hot soldering tool, the nails can be pushed (melted) into position.

How I Designed This
Original created in Solidworks a few years ago and recently modified with Fusion 360.
The reason to use an off the shelf M-chassis rim, is because of durability. I have tried several designs for complete wheels, but they often failed during the race, around the center of the wheel.
To keep the wheel diameter close to 65mm and the nails of 13 mm, I needed a small diameter rim. This does limit the choice of the RC chassis, where the wheel fits on. Tamiya TT01, TT02 and M-chassis are fine, but it might not fit on other touring car chassis.
