Before I bought my Rad Wagon e-bike, I had a different model that worked perfectly with the Burley Dash child seat. I originally purchased the Burley Dash and it mounted securely to the rear rack of my old bike. Which worked great.

However, after upgrading to the Rad Wagon, I quickly realized that the Burley Dash wasn’t compatible. The RadWagon only works with the Thule Yepp child seat (which is significantly more expensive), and I didn’t want to spend even more money on a new seat. So, I came up with a simple workaround to make the Burley Dash work with the RadWagon.

My DIY Mounting Solution

Here’s how I adapted the Burley Dash to fit on the RadWagon:

1. Remove the Wooden Seat Panel

Start by removing one of the wooden plank seat panels from the rear rack of the RadWagon. This will serve as your template.

2. Create a Custom Platform

Use the removed wooden panel as a template to trace and cut a new platform from a standard piece of plywood (No need to include the side indentations). This will become the base for the Burley Dash mount.

3. Get the Right Hardware

You’ll need longer bolts to secure the new plywood platform to the RadWagon. I used M5 x 0.8 thread bolts, 40mm in length — these are available at most hardware stores like Ace Hardware.

4. Add Spacers

To raise the new platform to the correct height, I designed and 3D-printed four simple spacers. These go between the existing rack and the new plywood layer to provide clearance and stability. These are printed at 100% infill and out of PETG.

5. Install the Burley Dash

With the platform secured, mount the Burley Dash seat as you normally would. The double-decker wood setup creates a sturdy and level surface for installation. It can be mounted to either the front or rear section.

Final Result

This setup lets you use the more affordable Burley Dash seat on your Rad Wagon. It’s a great solution for parents who want to enjoy riding with their kids without being locked into a more expensive child seat option.
