In building the Saturn 1B by https://the-amphioxus.monsite-orange.fr/ I wanted a better base than the idea in the instructions. The best would be the actual launch pad, which still exists as a memorial to the Apollo 1 astronauts. Finding the LC34 drawings by B.J. West put the idea in motion.
This model is 1/72 in scale, and will be detailed with railings and stairways from bglasford1's Apollo LUT project.
The torus ring is slightly undersized and maybe replaced before final build. Got the torus ring up to the correct size, 7mm dia equivalent 20" in 1/72 scale. It's a 20 inch diameter pipe that supplied the water to cool and reduce the sound shock waves generated at launch.
Printed in PLA with some parts to be printed in resin and some old school modeling with styrene scratch building supplies.
The torus supports are at every 45 degrees and line up with the pad sides. The hold down mechanisms are 20 degrees off as shown in the attached drawing.
