This is a simple stand intended to hold either a small tablet or a phone in the landscape orientation. It uses two 8 mm steel rods to connect the two halves together. I wanted something that was simple to print and didn't require any supports and also wanted to get rid of some spare parts I had laying around. The photos show both an iPhone 8s and a Samsung Tab A 8". The supports are close enough together that you can put a tablet in portrait mode.

Steel rods were used because I had them laying around and liked the way they looked. You could just as easily print some shafts but if you are not going to use steel rods, there are many better looking stands online.

I think it would look nicer in white and can be printed from any material... I had black PETG loaded up so that's what got printed.

Notes:

I used an infill of 30% honeycomb with 0 top and bottom layers because I like the see-thru effect you get. I think I would have been happier with less infill so the holes in the honeycomb pattern were larger. You can play with the infill % or add top and bottom layers depending on what you like.

Post-Printing =============

Print 2 copies and then insert the steel rods flush with the surface. The holes are modeled at 8.05 mm to account for some shrinkage on the hole when printing and they are designed to be a tight fit on the rods. If you don't mind the way it looks, you can have the rods sticking out a bit on each end so the supports are closer together and then it should hold a phone in portrait mode.
