This is a remix of the beautiful rose model (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3423963). I modified the design to make the stem stronger and easier to print, and added connection points for the leaves. Here is the step-by-step assembly manual.
What you need:
3D Printed Parts (7 pcs):
1x Rose Bud
1x Sepal
2x Stem halves
1x Small connector cube
2x Leaf branches
Tools & Consumables:
Super glue / Cyanoacrylate
Toothpick
Heat gun
Optional: Gloves
Assembly Steps:
Step 1: Prepare the parts
Ensure all parts are printed and clean from supports or brim.
Step 2-3: Stem Assembly Start
The stem is split into two halves to allow horizontal printing for better layer adhesion and strength. Take one half of the stem and insert the small connector cube into the designated square slot near the top.
Step 4-5: Gluing the Stem
Apply super glue along the entire flat surface of the second stem half. Use a toothpick to spread it evenly. Connect the two halves together, using the cube for alignment. Press firmly and ensure the edges align perfectly.
Tip: Wear gloves to avoid getting glue on your fingers.
Step 6-8: Attaching the Sepal
Apply a small amount of glue to the circular platform at the top of the assembled stem. Place the sepal (the star-shaped green part) onto the stem. Since it doesn't snap in, hold it in place for a minute until the glue sets.
Step 9-10: Screwing the Bud
Screw the rose bud onto the threaded part of the stem. Due to the split-stem design, the thread might be tight. Grip the stem base firmly (use a cloth to protect your hand/print) and screw the bud on with steady pressure. Glue is usually not needed here as the friction fit is very strong.
Step 11-12: Shaping the Sepal
Set your heat gun to approx. 180°C (350°F). Carefully heat the green sepal leaves underneath the bud. Wait until the plastic becomes pliable (you might see leaves moving slightly from the airflow). Turn off the heat and quickly use your fingers to bend the leaves upwards, hugging the bud. Hold until cool.
Step 13: Adding Leaves
I added two holes to the stem design. Insert the leaf branches into these holes. You can secure them with a drop of glue if loose.
Optional: You can also heat the leaves slightly with the heat gun to give them a more natural, curved look.
Enjoy your everlasting rose!
