Summary
Apple's magsafe really intrigues me, but they dont yet offer a vehicle mount that doesnt suck, so i made my own
it uses 15x 5mm cube neodinyium n48 magnets from ebay which are press fit, and a small Qi charger EK1854 from amazon (link below) which is held in with a small amount of foam tape

Magnet arragement
first, remove any case you may have on your iPhone 12, and arrange the cube magnets into a 1x1 tower,
pull off one magnet, and make note of its orientation, all of the same poles in a magsafe ring, point inwards radially,
lay one magnet with one pole facing towards the middle of the ring, and the other pole facing away, and position it so that you can feel it stick to the back of your phone, and can easily SLIDE in a circle, similar to the xray photo above, if it doesnt, try flipping it over and trying again
magnet orientation is CRUCIAL to get this to work properly
once you have one magnet oriented properly, press fit it HALFWAY into one of the square holes
a pair of Parallel Jewlers Pliers really helps with this, but is optional
once you have one magnet in place, you can compare all the other magnets to this one before pressing them HALFWAY in
when all the magnets are in place, stick the assembly to the phone, if it doesnt snap into place and have a fairly strong hold on the phone, the magnets may not be in the right place, you should pull them out and try again
the mount SHOULD BE STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD THE PHONE AT ANY ORIENTATION, if it does not, some magnets may not be in the right place
Qi Charger
the charger posted above needs some slight work done to it in order to fit,
the ferrite plate on the back needs to be trimmed down to fit the indent, luckily this is an easy process with a pair of pliers
simply grip the rim and snap it, all around so the black ferrite is the same size as the copper coil
i advise you do this over a trash can, as there are many little pieces that come off
Final Assembly and optional mods
once the magnets are arranged, press them down all the way with pliers,
the coil part of the charger should now press fit in between the magnets, and be held in place by the magnetic field, (if you want to ad a drop of CA or hotglue go right ahead)
for the circuit board, add a small square of double sided foam tape, or hot glue to the back, and channel the coil wires around so that the board can sit in the square on the back
a standard microUSB connector should be able to plug into the back port
MODS
so far what i have tried and enjoyed was adhesive backed silicone sheet, to cover the coil and add a bit of stick to the pad
upcoming, i will work on adding a ball mount for standard car GPS suction cups
