This chassis was built to mount squared LiPo batteries with maximum dimensions of 47(W) × 27(H) × 135(L) mm. The chassis turned out lighter than the original, surprisingly.
The battery holder is mounted to the main chassis using 4 × M3 × 5.7 mm (length) × 4.6 mm (OD) threaded brass heat inserts and M3 × 8 screws. The hook on the battery holder is meant to secure the battery balance connector.
I have created some built-in supports for the screw head holes on the bottom of the chassis to make printing easier.
I recommend using 3–5 perimeters to make the chassis more solid and crash-resistant. All prototypes were printed with PETG.
There are 2 variations of the chassis available in the download section:
• The whole chassis in one piece + battery holder
- First version, which broke easily after a frontal impact due to a low number of perimeters (the prototype had only 2 perimeters).
• Main chassis with removable front diff mount + battery holder
- This modification was made after a frontal impact caused the front diff mount to fall apart.
- The front part needs some slicer-generated supports because of the overhang.
- I recommend printing this part more fragile so that in case of impact it will break more quickly than the rest of the chassis (e.g. 2 perimeters).
- Requires 5 additional M3 × 5.7 mm threaded inserts + 5 × M3 × 8 screws.
