These badges are used to designate the rank of a military member for the Live Action Role Playing game Empire 6.

The badges are intended to be printed with 2 colors. The first is the ‘base’ color, which matches one of the several departments in the game. The second is the ‘top’ color, which is intended to always be gold. They could be painted, but I found that the color was a lot simpler to apply in filament, rather than worrying about the extra handling post-print. The filament should be switched just after the ‘indent’ finishes printing.

Once these were printed, I added Velcro to the backs of them and they could be swapped out on costumes, depending on the rank of the non-player-character that needed it. It kept our costs down, rather than needing to design/purchase patches.

The picture is the reason we decided to move away from painting the badges.
