A customizable OpenSCAD enclosure for various PCB projects.
This design was originally created with AI assistance for the MakerClass Macropad project, but proved useful for various other PCB enclosure needs! I printed dozens variants of it 🙂
Features
This is a fully parametric box generator that creates enclosures/trays with:
- Adjustable dimensions - Configure PCB size, wall thickness, clearances, and corner radius
- Multiple mounting post types:
- Locating pins for PCB alignment
- Holes for self-tapping M3 screws
- Holes for M3 heat-set inserts
- Flat posts without pins or holes
- Individual post configuration - Each corner can use a different mounting method with custom positioning
- Wall cutouts - Add connector openings on any wall with precise positioning:
- Predefined types: USB-C, Dupont 3/4-pin, StemmaQT/Qwiic/uŠup
- Custom rectangular or circular cutouts
- Adjustable height positioning
- Tolerance control - Built-in tolerance settings for proper fit
Default Configuration
The included file is configured for a 75×75mm MakerClass MacroPad PCB with:
- 2mm wall and base thickness
- 8mm wall height
- 5mm mounting posts with locating pins
- 0.5mm clearance around PCB
Customization
All parameters are defined at the top of the file with comments explaining each setting. Modify these values to match your specific PCB dimensions and requirements.
The design uses standard OpenSCAD syntax and requires no additional libraries.

Printing Notes
- No supports needed when printed base-down
- 0.2mm layer height works well for most applications
- For heat-set inserts, print holes slightly undersized and test fit before assembly
