The Flower Totem is a set of modular 3D-printed vases, shaped like vertically extruded flowers, available in three different heights: S, M, and L.
Each flower totem consists of two parts:
- Nucleus
- Shell
The core is like a central axis - the "flower stem" - while the outer petals surround it in a concentric manner, creating a visually striking effect with clear layers and smooth lines. Once assembled, this vase combines a sculptural artistic beauty with a strong vertical tension, making it ideal for flower arranging or as a highly decorative totem ornament.
The Flower Totems are specifically designed for color experiments. You can print the inner and outer parts with contrasting hues, or mix and match different sizes, superimpose various components, or even stitch them into long strips of multi-color combinations. When these Flower Totems are combined and displayed in a staggered manner, they can present a playful architectural floral arrangement - like a miniature flower forest, lively and full of vitality.
3D printing parameter settings
Core
It adopts vertical printing and the build platform is flat-mounted on the bottom surface.
If it is used to insert fresh-cut flowers, this component must be completely waterproof and sealed.
It is recommended to use PLA materials with good water resistance
- Floor height: ≤0.20 mm
- Perimeter line/wall thickness: It is recommended to set at least 4-6 layers
- Filling density: It is recommended to use 100% filling, or to print at a higher filling rate
- Fill the overlapping area: Adjust the fill rate to 15-20% as needed.
- Flow rate: Slightly increased
- Top/bottom layers: ensure that they are fully sealed
- The printing speed is slightly lower than the normal setting to promote good fusion between layers
- In terms of materials, I highly recommend using PETG. Its excellent sealing performance and interlayer adhesion can effectively enhance the durability and aesthetics of the finished products.
It is necessary to pay special attention to ensuring a strong adhesion between the layers, while avoiding under-compacting. The model itself has been precisely hollowed out according to the design - there is no need to make any additional modifications to the internal structure.
Outer decorative pattern
Carry out vertical printing according to the original design.
Although this component is a solid structure, it is recommended to print it in the form of a hollow peripheral shell. The print parameters are set as follows:
- Filling density: 0%
- Top layer: 0 layer
- Bottom layer: The number of layers should be as high as possible - the L-size specification should have at least 10 layers or more
- Peripheral line/wall thickness: Set to at least 3 layers
- Floor height: Acceptable for 0.20 mm and above
For large sizes, it is particularly important to strengthen the number of bottom layers - because this base will act as a sliding ring, tightly fitting over the core, and jointly assuming the structural support function.
After the printing is completed, you can choose from two display methods according to your needs:
- The solid side is facing up, and the central hole is clearly visible
- The petals of the flower should be facing upward when it is opened
