The use of this caddy replaces the center shaft of the reels holder assembly entirely, if you currently use it. This makes it easier to replace reels and improves friction when the tape is pulled from flimsy reels (usually passives).
This model assumes you use “standard” width reels (for 8mm tape that would be 11mm wide), otherwise this conversion will not work. Wide and stiff plastic reels (11.5-13mm, common for non-passives) usually do not require a center shaft and can be placed directly on the existing reel assembly.
Each caddy takes about 2 hours to print, so plan ahead since it's all or nothing. Please test the model on your machine before printing dozens, since I can not guarantee that QiHe has not changed the design of the reel holder assembly at some point.
Print settings: Materia: PLA; Layer height: 0.3mm; keep other settings default
Note that the .3mf files contain 3 objects which need to be printed separately. Use some type of PLA to get maximum stiffness as this model is really thin. The model is designed to be printed at a 0.3mm layer height to speed up making 48 of these…
Use super glue to glue the top part on to the bottom part.
The screw should be a loose friction fit, otherwise use a M8-1.25 tap on the bottom part. Or don't bother with the screw at all.
