A Laying Tool is used by stitchers to lay down fine threads or floss to ensure a flat, clean stitch. They are traditionally made of wood, metal, or occasionally glass. A smooth finish on the tool is essential.
The included model is the result of at least 6 iterations (as in the photo of the rejects!). In the photo of 4 tools, the plain red one was the first iteration. It had a print success rate of about 50% and snapped too easily. The other three, and the included model, are a slightly larger diameter and have a print success rate of 100%.
Parameters:
- Printed in generic Silk-like PLA at 230/220 C.
- Fill density 40% Gyroid
- Layer height 0.1, 5 perimeters.
- Seam Aligned with Scarf Everywhere.
It is important to print enough in a batch to allow cooling time of the printed material. Otherwise the tips will not print clean. To ensure bed adhesion, I use a Satin sheet.
