3D-printed cigarette storage box
Watch the video:https://youtu.be/-W0srrSoo7A
After seeing a wooden version on YouTube, I used Tinkercad to design a 3D printing model by myself. The whole machine is mainly composed of two parts:
- base;
- Cigarette box
In addition, there are two optional accessories:
- Cigarette box lid
- The handle of the cigarette box lid is equipped with a label bearing the word "cigarettes".
The base does not require a support structure. I used a 10% infill rate and a layer height of 0.28 mm for printing. However, if the layer height is set lower
The cigarette box needs to be equipped with supports. To facilitate the later cleaning of the support structure, I suggest adjusting the "Support Z Distance" to 0.4 mm in Cura, rather than the default 0.2 mm. After printing is completed, you can use a sharp knife tip to carefully remove the supports to ensure that no residual plastic is left, so as to avoid clogging the sliding channels of the cigarette over time. Similarly, I set a 10% infill rate and a layer height of 0.28 mm for the cigarette box. However, if you appropriately increase the infill percentage
To avoid cigarette jamming during use
I printed the cigarette box lid again with a 10% infill rate and a layer height of 0.28 mm. However, like other components, to achieve more efficient automated operation, it is recommended to increase the infill ratio appropriately, such as using an infill rate of more than 50%, to enhance the overall stability and reliability of the structure.
After completing the printing of the base and the cigarette box, before docking the two, first lubricate the axle hole of the cigarette box and the base hole with a dry soap block, and then press them tightly to ensure that they are firmly locked in place.
Finally, I printed the "cigarette box lid handle with a 'cigarette' logo" again with the same 10% infill rate and 0.2 mm layer height, so as to easily achieve two-color printing.
Therefore, if you want to achieve a two-color effect like the one shown in the figure - for example, on my single-nozzle printer - you need to set the "pause height" on the second and fifteenth layers respectively to complete the switching of filament materials of different colors. Specifically: first print the main color of the cigarette box at a layer height of 0.4 mm, then switch to the "cigarette" logo color at a layer height of 0.2 mm on the fifteenth layer, and then continue to print the remaining parts with the main color of the cigarette box.
If you don't need to switch colors, you can also print all four components simultaneously according to the same parameters you set. They are fully compatible with the 200×200 mm print bed size.
