This work is a re-creation of the "fully printable track assembly" created by Laird. I only made the following adjustments to the original design:
- Widen the central support to the same width as the handle to improve printing stability—during the first attempt, the support column was knocked over once.
- It fills the small holes on the innermost gear.
- Scale the model down to a length of 110mm.
The final product is a highly entertaining finger spinner toy with a moderate size and a relatively short printing time. I printed one each using green Hatchbox PETG and the gray PLA material that came with the Prusa i3. After about a week of frequent play, the PETG version is still intact, while the PLA version's belt was difficult to secure properly and broke during the first few spins. Therefore, I highly recommend using PETG for printing.
When printing with PLA, if you don't turn off the "wipe when retracting" function, the links on the build platform will be wiped out together. Although it is also recommended to turn off this option for PETG, it is not mandatory.
The newly printed belt is a bit stiff. It is recommended to remove it first, gently knead and straighten it with your hands, and then reinstall it. Make sure the "V"-shaped groove is facing the correct direction.
Editor: In response to some users' requests, I have additionally uploaded files containing only belts, without the complete assembly files. Although this toy doesn't require these separate belt files, they can be used for spare parts replacement, multi-color printing, or as a performance test for the printer. I once tested with purple belt files and installed them on the green gears that I had previously printed.
In addition, I also provided the .f3d file exported by Fusion. However, I don't think this file is of much practical use—it's just the original model size of my initial recreation, because I scaled the .stl file in PrusaSlicer.
