This is a percussion instrument I designed—the Tapping Frog or Scraper. The design inspiration came from the wooden version of the Tapping Frog in my grandfather's house. The only part of the model that requires adding a support structure is the frog's mouth, while the rest, including the internal top cover, can support itself. However, since the internal supports are difficult to clean up once they're created, it's recommended to use slicing software with flexible support settings to control the distribution and removal of supports
In order to enhance the sound quality of this instrument, it is recommended to use a high infill density for printing. I chose a 90% infill rate, and the sound quality was excellent; however, I haven't explored the effects of lower infill rates in detail yet.
Update: I have adjusted the model size to a moderate size rather than pursuing miniaturization at all costs. Although in theory, any size can be printed, this medium-sized version is both easy to handle and provides a good balance between sound quality and practicality.
Second update: Based on the actual size of the print, you can flexibly adjust the pitch of the tapping frog - the pitch varies with the size. I made a slightly smaller "buddy" version, which is about half the size of the original version, and found that the pitch was significantly higher. Therefore, you can create a series of tapping frogs of different sizes to correspond to different notes and achieve a variety of timbre combinations by adjusting the size.
