Perhaps you got your hands on a cheap depth gauge from one of the Chinese e-shops, primarily intended for measuring tire tread depth. Unfortunately, the delivery usually doesn't even include a basic protective case. No problem, we'll create one ourselves!

The level of protection can be further increased either by gluing a thin felt insert inside, or by printing the bottom part from harder TPU. Although the case itself is not waterproof, it is fully sufficient for basic protection.

Thanks to the thoughtful design of the depth gauge, there's ample space in the case not only for a spare LR44 battery but also for storing other small items.

If you intend to leave the depth gauge box in your vehicle, consider printing it from a material with higher heat resistance. I recommend printing from PETG at a minimum, but ideally from ASA or ABS.
