I bought a replacement patio umbrella canvas that was technically the correct size but just a little too big.  When I closed the umbrella some of the arms of the umbrella frame would slide out of the fabric pockets.

This bike clip was the perfect shape to solve the the problem.  I just modified it to be about 20mm across the opening and made it longer so it connects strongly.  Works great.
