Technical Overview
This compact winch system is designed to convert a standard cordless drill into a mobile hoist for transporting small items, such as keys or lightweight tools, between different floor levels. The assembly utilizes a central M10 hex bolt as the drive shaft, which is secured into the drill’s chuck to provide rotational power.
Construction & Components
The device is built using a combination of custom 3D-printed parts and standard hardware:
Body: Two-piece 3D-printed housing and spool assembly.
Drive Shaft: One long M10 hex bolt with a matching nut, serving as the core axle and drill interface.
Fasteners: Four M3 screws and four M3 threaded heat-set inserts to secure the housing components.
Functional Features
Secure Line Attachment: The spool includes an integrated lead-through hole. The end of the cord can be knotted through this opening to prevent the line from slipping on the axle or detaching completely when fully extended.
Direct Power Transfer: The M10 bolt transmits torque from the cordless drill directly to the spool. By adjusting the speed and direction of the drill, the user can precisely control the lowering and raising of the attached load.
Modular Design: The use of threaded inserts and standard screws allows for easy assembly and disassembly for maintenance or cord replacement.
