One day, my big heavy wall hanging fell. It had pulled the expansion bolt out of the drywall. So time for a toggle bolt. But each time, while on a ladder, that I attempted to place the wall hanging on the bolt, it would push the bolt into the hole in the wall. What I needed was something that would hold the toggle bolt in place and prevent it from being pushed into the wall.
A few minutes with FreeCAD and a few more on my BambuLab X1C, and I had a spacer. Then I clipped the spacer onto the toggle bolt, tightened bolt to slightly snug, then successfully hung my big heavy wall hanging on the first attempt.
One note, you want to have the slot up so the top of the bolt head catches on your wall hanging, and/or add a washer next to the bolt head.
I printed in BambuLab red ASA that was already loaded in my AMS (yes, I can be lazy).
I've included the FreeCAD model which has a Configuration Table in the Spreadsheet so you can easily add any size that you need (the model is totally parameterized). The Configuration Table is assigned to the SpacerBody, data, "Toggle Bolt" property.
I've also included the .stl and the BambuLab's .3mf for the 3/8" by 12mm spacer that I used.
Enjoy!
