Summary
Covid-19 - emergency - Face Shield / Splash Shield PPE - personal protection equipment
(tips graciously accepted to help pay for supplies to make these)
intended for use by emergency responders, and medical staff in place of commercially available splash shields In this time of low supply.
please use and modify as you wish or need to supply those in need with much-needed splash shields!
Designed factors:
- face shield stays secured once attached for user safety.
- quick to print and assemble.
- uses a low amount of filament.
- able to print on smaller MakerBot replicator / flash fordge etc style printers
- flexibility on elastic strap material. - use what you have even rubber bands if needed.
- It is comfortable to wear without the need for foam padding etc.
items needed.
- transparency film (can use any thickness, but 2mil or thicker is best) 8 1/2 x 11 or A4
1/2" or smaller sewing elastic (or anything that can be used as an elastic band to hold the mask on) I use 3/8" because of thats what I could get quickly. - 3 hole punch or hand punch to put the holes in the transparency
- filament and printer.
this is version 5 of the design

Printer Brand:
MakerBot
Printer:
MakerBot Replicator 1
Rafts:
Doesn't Matter
Supports:
No
Resolution:
.3
Infill:
10%
Notes:
I print the buckles at 100% infill, but likely not necessary.
I use .3 layer height and 10% infill for speed reasons .. the print is fine at those settings.
there is nothing critical about the settings, use what works best on your printer.
Post-Printing
aseembly
use 18" / 46cm of elastic and 2 buckles to attach the elastic. or 36" / 92cm of elastic and 1 buckle.
punch 3 holes in the transparency.
I would package the unattached transparency film with the body instead of attaching it to keep the space it takes up small. but either way works.
