This case was designed specifically for an OBD scanner model Zurich ZR4s, but may fit other models with a similar form factor.
UPDATE Jan. 7, 2022 : I added a “label” print (see photos) - simple glue on label to identify the contents as an OBD2 Scanner.
Assembly and Use
The case includes a separate lid designed to be printed in flex filament. The lid has a strap with a small “button” that fits into a hole in the case; this ensures that the lid stays with the case and does not get misplaced. Insert the button into the hole in the case while supporting the case from the inside; the button is a tight fit so that it will stay in the hole after insertion.
The easy way to insert the scanner into the case is to insert the connector part first, followed by the main scanner and cable. The lid is a simple friction fit onto the case.
Print Instructions
Print the case in PETG and the lid in TPU (FLEX). The case could probably be printed in PLA, but be advised that PLA does not hold up to the occasional high temperatures of in-car storage.
Case :
- layer height 0.3mm
- 2 perimeters
Lid :
- print in flex filament (required for flexible “strap”)
- layer height 0.3mm
- 4 perimeters
Label :
- print in PETG in two colors via filament switching
- note that the label is simply glued on in an arbitrary position
