With how low the guard comes down, it can easily hit any clamps/hold down methods. So I decided to model up a new plate without the guard, since I run the machine in the enclosure, always wear goggles, and keep the door closed so the small additional shield wasn't doing much. I'd rather not have to worry about it hitting my hold downs. It also allows more clearance for smoke to flow out from under the laser module. A bonus also gives you ~8mm clearance between the nozzle and workpiece, giving you some Z movement. I managed to cut through 18mm plywood with this extra z movement.
I've also included one with a fully opaque shield, and one to take 80x15x1mm orange acrylic if you've broken yours somehow and want to replace it.
I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IN YOUR DECISION TO REDUCE THE SAFETY FEATURES OF YOUR MACHINE. ALWAYS make sure to use any class 4 laser in a safe manner and ensure any available protection is in place.
Printed fine with white PLA (so I can visualize the smoke residue) with an 0.6 nozzle @ 0.4mm layer height.
