PRELIMINARY DESIGN – FOR TESTING ONLY
INTRO:
When moving your printer into an enclosure, it is a very good idea to remove the MCU mainboard enclosure from the printer and place it outside. The bed cable on the SV06/Plus is too short for this.
This mod solves that problem by mounting a MOSFET board on the base extrusion. The bed cable power cable can be terminated at the MOSFET and another power cable connects the MOSFET to the power supply.
A 24V PWM signal wire connects the MCU mainboard to the MOSFET to control temperature.
A 5V 2 wire extension cable connects the bed's thermistor lead to the MCU mainboard.
PRINTED PARTS:
Print the box cover with no top and bottom layers so the infill creates a mesh for air to flow.
PLA is not recommended for parts used inside an enclosure. ABS is recommended for the MOSFET enclosure.
HARDWARE:
A MOSFET board intended for use with a 24V DC 3D printer heated bed.
1 x M4 screw
6 x M5 screws and t-slot nuts
10 x M3 screws and nuts
WIRING:
This mod involves terminating power conductors. There is some risk of fire if done improperly. Please consult a tutorial on proper wiring for 3d printers if you are not already experienced with such things.
I recommend using the original PS to MCU cable to power the MOSFET. This is particularly useful on the SV06 Plus because that cable contains a ground conductor.
Most MOSFET boards of this type require a control signal between 12V-24V. Take the output signal from the MCU bed-power screw terminal and connect to the MOSFET PWM control port. A heavy gauge wire should not be required.
A new 2 conductor cable of reasonable thickness needs to be connected between the PS and MCU board.
If you are using an EBB36 or EBB42 toolhead board, it should be safe to connect a cable from the MOSFET's power input terminal to the EBB.
KLIPPER OR MARLIN CONFIGURATION:
This mod should be compatible with Marlin as well as Klipper. No configuration changes are necessary.
