Refill MasterSpool for Dremel 3D Printers

Whether you are "green" and want to cut down packaging or are just fed up with disposing of piles of empty filament spools then filament refills are the answer.

After my first attempt to make a MasterSpool (thing:3786341) which would print on a 155mm wide print (no additions. No support, skirt or brim) bed I now give you a MasterSpool which will fit inside your Dremel 3D printer.

Print component A and component B. Fit the edges to the flanges and glue them in place (use an acetone melt glue for ABS or Superglue for most other plastics).
The standard size spool will take 750g filament refills. In the UK I get mine from 3D Print Works. Internet search "filament refill" for your local stockist.

I also include a wider version of component A which I optimistically describe as 1Kg although it is more likely to be useful for 850g refills. I have not tested this. If you want to try then you will need to print a new door for your printer to accommodate the extra width. Print two door halves, two hooks, a handle and the short spool clamp from my thing:3818976.

How to Use

Take your filament refill and slide it onto component A. Screw on component B. Then remove the zip ties from the filament and tighten the components together. Not too tight that you break the plastic!
I have designed the diameter of the flanges to be a close fit to your printer but there is still a possibility that filament loops can fall over the sides of the flanges and cause the printer to jam. It is important to monitor the printer for the first 10 or so spool rotations until the level of the filament is clearly below the level of the flanges.
