I made this microphone as a last-night solution to be able to amplify two violins relatively cheaply wireless at a friend's wedding, so I designed it to use my AKG PT80 Transmitter that normally uses a small condenser lavalier microphone with a MiniXLR connector.
I made it to fit 1/1 Violins, will not fit smaller violins or larger violas without some adjusting of the model
I will add a picture of it fastened to a violin soon (forgot to take a picture)
I printed the clip in a Shore 45D flexible filament, and a correct alignment of the infill helps with getting it flexible in the right places (see an image of how I used the infill at 20%).
The microphone capsule I used is an EC-0301/L, chosen mostly because the impedance and the sensitivity are a good match for my AKG PT80 Wireless transmitters, but any condenser/electret microphone capsule with a diameter of 9.7-9.8mm and a length of <11mm works in the clip.
You will need:
- EC-0301/L or other 9.8mm Electret Microphone Capsule
- Microphone Cable
- Connector of your choice
- Heat shrink
- Hot glue
