This is a remix of the Plastic House spool roller remixed to support standard 1Kg spools.
There is no assembly required other than sliding 4 bearings onto the shaft ends to complete the spool roller.
I've also included a PC4 fitting plug to seal the containers when not in use.
Just place the spool roller into bottom of the Plastic House cereal containers and your spool onto the rollers. I add desiccant packs to the bottom of the container. In my studio, these are staying typically around 20% humidity within the containers at room temperature. I generally just use PETG and some PLA so it is not critical to me to heat my filament as with other materials.
Print Setup (PETG):
Spool Roller
- Spool Roller Base Down
- Layer Height: .2mm
- Sparse Infill: 100% (maybe overkill but its just filament)
- Supports: Tree (auto). These ended up being simple to remove and worked out much better than normal supports.
PTFE Fitting Plug
- Fitting Cap Down
- Layer Height: .1mm
- Sparse Infill: 100%
- No Supports

Improvements Needed:
I found that these work perfectly except when you are getting low filament on the spool. Then, the weight of the spool is less than needed in order to keep the filament feed from pulling up on the spool. It does not cause any problems but the spool may no longer be resting on the bearings when this happens. I think that some guides to keep the top of the spool on center within the container would be a good improvement. I was thinking maybe of something that attached to the underside of the lid with a couple of guides down the sides would be simple and effective for this scenario.
