How I Designed This
Introduction
For those that have seen my other switch designs, this is another one to add to that arsenal. This is a single paddle design much like a standard decaora style light switch. It has an LED indicator on it that can be used to indicate it's on/off status, or other identification purposes.
The circuit board
For my switch board designs I have designed a set of three circuit boards to create a fully functional home automation in-wall scene controller.
The board that I am going to discuss here is the main switch circuit board. This board can be used not only for this design, but for my two button and four button on/off switches as well as my eight button scene controller. Depending how the switches and LEDs are populated on the board, you can create any of these switch configurations.
This design will fit a standard 30mm x 70mm prototyping board. This is the same style of proto board that I used when I made the first prototype versions of the switches. For the screws to hold the board to the switch plate I used 2mm x 5mm self tapping screws.
