The Expandable Greenhouse protects your seedlings. Printed in as a series of panels, this greenhouse can be as tall or short as you need.
Assembly required. Use super glue to join the panels. The panels are covered in insulating window film such as this.
To keep the layers stable I glue a small length of filament in the corner.
Assembly tips:
- I added a map for assembly.
- When assembling the bottom tray glue it together, let it dry, then run a bead of super glue down the seam, let it dry, and do the same on the bottom of the seam. Water test and add another bead of glue if necessary.
- Glue the together an entire level, apply double sided tape to the outer walls. The tape that comes with the window film is 3x the width of the wall tape area.
- Cut a piece of film larger than you need. Trim it after the hair dryer step.
- I find it easiest to apply by putting the film on a flat surface and placing one face down then rolling it to apply the other walls. It comes out smoother this way.
- For the roof place the long side down first, roll to second long side, then pull out the film to make a “tent” that mimics the shape of the roof. Fold the film down at a 45 degree angle over the short side so one piece of film touches all parts of the short side walls.
- Place the skeleton on a flat surface and hold it gently as you use the hair dryer on it. The hair dryer will get hot enough to warp PLA. Don't skip this step.
This design is surprisingly forgiving with the assembly. Even with gaps it does a great job with the temperature and humidity.
