This 3D model is for a beautifully designed berry basket, perfect for freshly picked berries from your home garden or for a day out at the berry picking farm. This basket is crafted with an emphasis on both functionality and aesthetics, showcasing 16 evenly distributed 8mm slots along the sides and bottom to allow for effective drainage. This ensures your berries remain fresh and dry.

The base of the basket starts with a rectangle of 150mm x 100mm, featuring 5mm rounded corners to add to the overall aesthetic and safety of the design, preventing any sharp edges. From this base, the basket is extruded upwards to a height of 75mm, tapering outward at an angle of 5 degrees. This slight outward tapering gives it an elegant, welcoming shape, making it easier to add and remove berries.

The walls of the basket are thin, just 1mm thick, making the design lightweight yet sturdy enough to securely hold your berries. This basket was 3D printed using PLA material on the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon, taking approximately 1.5 hours to print.

Volume and Capacity

The volume of the basket is calculated based on it being a frustum of a pyramid. The volume of a frustum is given by the following formula:

V = h/3 * (A1 + A2 + sqrt(A1*A2))

Where:
- h = height of the frustum (75mm),
- A1 = area of the larger base (157mm * 107mm),
- A2 = area of the smaller base (150mm * 100mm).

Calculating these gives us a volume of approximately 951,000 cubic mm or 951 cubic cm for the internal volume of the basket.

The standard measurement for berries is typically done in pints. 1 pint is roughly equal to 473.176 cubic cm. Therefore, the basket can approximately hold up to 2 pints of berries.

Of course, the actual quantity may vary based on the size of the berries. For example, if you're picking smaller berries like blueberries, you'll be able to fit more than if you're picking larger berries, like strawberries. But as a rough guide, you can expect it to hold about 2 pints worth of berries.
