This was inspired by the Ranger's Apprentice stories by John Flanagan and the fan discussion here (https://flanagan.fandom.com/wiki/Flanagan_Wiki).  I wanted to keep it simple and safe for those younger apprentices.

The Saxe Knife has a thick, heavy grip made of a series of leather discs one above the other with a short, sturdy crosspiece.  It is heavy and straight, sharp on one side and thick and heavy on the other.  There is a lot of fan discussion about what contemporary knife a Saxe Knife would resemble.  My impression is that the closest may be some version of a Bowie knife.

For this version, I have a Bowie-like knife with a plain “leather” (brown) handle and a brass hilt to be consistent with my other models.  The Bowie-like blade has a sharp side which sweeps around the point and about ⅓ across the top.  The rest is plain flat “metal”.  In a future version, I'd like to give the handle the leather ring look that is used on the Throwing Knife.  I'd also like to make the blade thicker to make the edges more pronounced and the blade less flimsy.

For this model, there are 2 parts - the blade and the handle/hilt.  The blade has a small tab that is glued into the hilt.  Both parts are printed at 0.2 mm detail.  The blade prints flat on the table.  I added a small support under the blade tab which you may not need.  I also have a small support in the hilt to keep the tab opening nice and crisp.  This support may also not be needed.  The handle/hilt prints vertically on the table with the hilt down.  This allows for a color change.
