Summary
This Thing is a work-in-progress. I will need to redesign the part outside of Fusion 360 in order to upload a .scad file. If someone knows how to convert the .step to .scad, I'll add it to this Thing.
Introducing HEXORAMA, the ultimate modular hexagonal display and storage solution for infinite possibilities, a versatile and customizable solution for organizing and displaying your collection of like-sized objects. Designed with interlocking male and female dovetail joints on all six sides, these hexagonal tubes can be connected in a honeycomb fashion, allowing for endless configuration possibilities. Whether mounted on a wall or placed on a desk, this system adapts to your needs.
Features:
● Modular Design: Connect multiple units to create a custom display or storage solution.
● Versatile Orientation: Use horizontally for wall-mounted displays or vertically for desk and tool storage.
● Wall-Mountable: The width of two connected pieces is perfectly-sized to fit a small or medium 3M Command Adhesive strip.
● Scalable: Adjust the size to fit your space and needs, with limited scaling to maintain tolerance.
● Endless Accessories: Design your own interlocking accessories, limited only by your imagination.
● Container Storage: Design removable pieces that slide into the cubby-hole, perfect for custom tool storage.
Future Development Plans:
● Improved, looser tolerances, with secure-locking detents
● Feet for stable desktop display
● Edge covers to conceal unused dovetails
● Extended cubbies for wider-spanning shelves (2-4x long from corner to corner, yet still 1x as long from opposing edge to opposing edge)
● Additional shapes and configurations to enhance modularity
● LED lighting (maybe someday)
Print Considerations:
These have a friction fit, with tight tolerances; they require precision outer walls and may need to be tapped into place (I used a plastic mallet to join mine). With looser tolerances, they don't stay nested very well. That said, I'll likely release an updated version with tolerances that are better tuned in the near future.
● Filament used: Elegoo Rapid PLA
● Sparse infill density: 20%
● Sparse infill pattern: 3D Honeycomb (of course!)
● Brim: I did not use a brim. If you do, set it to inner brim only for easier removal.
● Support: not required
● Fuzzy Skin: Do not use fuzzy skin, it will destroy the tolerances and the pieces won't join.

I encourage the community to design and share their own remixes and accessory items to expand the functionality of this system. All derivatives must share the same open license and crediting: Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International.
