Easter Egg Fidget - Multicolor
I have a newer Easter Egg now which is smaller (faster to print and fits the hand better) and improved in a number of ways. This big one is still cool but I highly recommend you check this one out!
After playing around with several of the other fidget balls/eggs/etc. using my U1 and the Full Spectrum fork of Snapmaker Orca (FullSpec, or perhaps FullSpOrca), I wanted to make a model to share here that was a little beefier (I broke a few of the others) and include some profiles built for the U1 and H2C. The concept is not new but I built this model from scratch in OnShape; I've included the STEP file.
For FullSpec make sure you're using the file labeled U1! The “download .3mf” button gives you the Bambu Studio version, which will not have the color blends. Click “Download CAD/STL Files” and pick the U1 .3mf from there.
The U1 profile is moderately fancy; it has some height modifiers to go to 100% infill in a couple critical areas and to reduce the layer height in stages near the top where the slope gets gradual; this latter change is to improve the color blending without forcing you to print the whole thing at 0.08. All but the final 12mm are printed at 0.16mm, then it steps down to 0.12, 0.08, and finally 0.06 at the very top.
If you have a toolchanger but don't know what all this “Full Spectrum” (or FullSpec, or FullSpOrca) is about, download ratdoux's excellent fork! It's super intuitive to use.
If you haven't already, be sure to check out my Peggy Palette model, which is a good way to get an idea of the range of colors you can get from a given 4 filaments. It's a must for experimenting with FullSpec, and the Makerworld post includes a whole bunch of example pictures with filament labels.
For another whimsical twisty fidget, check out my Twisty Snapmaker Dragon Head!
Thanks, and Happy Easter!
