Welcome to my Modular Gridfinity Desk Shelf project! This is currently a Work In Progress (WIP) as I'm waiting for more filament to finish printing my own bases, but the core files are fully functional and ready to be downloaded and printed.
This project uses the amazing Gridfinity ecosystem to create a customizable, raised shelf for your desk, helping you organize your workspace while keeping things looking clean and aesthetic.
What's included in the files:
- The Leg: A standard Gridfinity 1x1 size profile with a height of 20 Gridfinity units. (Generated using gridfinitygenerator.com).
- The Connector: Custom-designed in Blender. It features a 3.4mm hole designed for wood screws. It has a snug friction-fit into the leg that requires no extreme force (the internal Z-seam might create a little bit of friction, but it slides in fine).
- Note: When assembled, the leg + connector have a total height of 16cm.
- The Base: Generated using gridflock.yawk.at, but I modified it by adding back walls. This prevents your items from falling behind the desk and gives the whole shelf a much cleaner, finished look. The legs are perfectly designed to snap right into these bases.
My Personal Setup:
For my own desk shelf, I printed four 5x5 bases and used a standard piece of pine wood for the top shelf.
Future Updates (Roadmap):
- Drilling Template: I will soon upload an A4-sized printable template to make it much easier to mark the exact locations for the screws on the wood.
- More Accessories: I plan to keep evolving this project and adding new compatible accessories.

Print Settings & Recommendations
I printed my parts on a Flashforge AD5X using Black PETG. Here is the slicer configuration I used for the best results:
- Material: PETG
- Layer Height: 0.24 mm
- First Layer Height: 0.25 mm
- Wall Loops: 4
- Bottom Shell Layers: 4
- Sparse Infill Density: 15%
- Sparse Infill Pattern: Gyroid
- Seam Position: Aligned Back
- Supports: None needed!
- Bed Adhesion: I used a Brim for extra safety.
