Title:
Parametric Wavy Soap Dish (Minimal Supports / Customizer Ready)
Summary:
A fully parametric, elegant wavy soap dish designed specifically for FDM 3D printing.
The mathematical 3D wave surface is tailored to keep your soap dry. Water naturally flows down the waves and drains directly through the holes located exactly at the lowest points (valleys) of the structure. The outer edges smoothly transition into a flat rim for a clean look.
Key Features:
Minimal Supports Required: The complex wavy center and drain holes print perfectly without any support material because the holes act as micro-bridges. You only need standard supports for the outer horizontal overhang (the rim).
Perfect Bed Adhesion: The script includes a built-in bottom_cut parameter. Instead of printing thin wavy lines on the first layer, it creates neat, flat circular contact patches around the drain holes.
Fully Customizable: Use the OpenSCAD Customizer to adjust length, width, wave amplitude/period, drain hole size, and even the smoothness of the mesh.
Fast Rendering: Unlike standard Boolean operations that take hours to calculate complex surfaces, this script generates a single mathematical polyhedron mesh, rendering the final STL in just seconds.
(Optional) A matching drip tray is planned/coming soon!
Print Settings:
Rafts: No
Supports: Yes (Only for the outer edge/rim. Ensure supports do not generate inside the drain holes).
Resolution: 0.2 mm
Infill: 15% - 25% (or simply increase perimeters to 3-4 for a solid feel)
Filament: PETG is highly recommended due to its excellent water and temperature resistance, though PLA or ABS will also work.
Notes on Customizer (Before exporting to STL):
By default, the resolution is set to 1.0 for fast real-time preview. Before hitting Render (F6) and saving your STL, change the resolution to 0.4 or 0.3 for a beautifully smooth surface. You can also increase smoothness to 128 for perfect circles.
