🛠️ Dual-Z Alignment Tool: Flawless First Layers Start Here! 📐
Are you struggling with inconsistent first layers, uneven bed leveling, or random printing issues on your dual-Z axis machine? If your bed leveling is perfectly dialed in on one side but completely off on the other, your dual-Z lead screws are likely out of sync!
This Dual-Z Alignment Tool is a simple, highly effective calibration print designed to perfectly sync your dual-Z lead screws. By locking your X-axis extrusion into perfect alignment, it eliminates axis sagging, prevents uneven layers, and drastically improves your overall printing reliability. It is a must-have maintenance tool for anyone running solid bed mounts or looking for flawless, repeatable prints.
🚀 Why This Alignment Tool Rules the Workshop
👑 Time-Tested & Proven: This has been widely used by the maker community since 2019 to save prints and fix Z-wobble!
🧠 Original & Extensively Tested Design: This is my own original design, meticulously engineered and extensively tested over years of continuous printing to ensure absolute precision.
📐 Universal Compatibility: This tool works flawlessly with any 3D printer featuring a standard 2020 aluminum extrusion X-axis coupled with a dual-Z axis setup (including upgraded Ender 3 series, Ender 5 Plus, and various clones).
🆓 Always 100% Free: Keeping the maker community calibrated is my mission! (If it saves your first layer, hitting Like, leaving a message, or tossing a Boost is the ultimate way to say thanks!)
🖨️ Recommended Print Settings (Keep It Rigid)
For an alignment tool, stiffness is everything. Follow these settings for the best results:
⚡ THE ULTIMATE SHORTCUT: I highly recommend using the provided 3MF file included with this model. It has the ideal layer heights, orientations, and structural settings pre-configured so you can just slice and go with 100% confidence!
🛡️ Walls/Perimeters: 3–4 walls to ensure the alignment tabs remain completely rigid and won't flex over repeated use.
📦 Infill: 20%–30% (Infill patterns like Grid or Gyroid work best for maximum structural crushing resistance).
🚫 Supports: Absolutely NONE needed. Print it clean right off the bed!
🔧 How to Use (Step-by-Step Calibration)
🚨 Print two (2) of these blocks before starting.
Center & Raise: Ensure your X & Y axes are centered, and increase your Z-height to roughly 30mm using your printer's controls.
Power Down: Turn off your 3D printer completely to allow the stepper motors to move freely.
Insert the Tools: Place one alignment block on the left side of the frame and the other on the right side underneath the X-axis extrusion.
Manual Sync: Manually turn your lead screws evenly until the X-axis settles snugly and squarely on top of both tools.
Power Up & Remove: Turn the printer back on, raise the Z-height up a few millimeters using the printer controls, and slide the tools out.
Your Z-axis is now perfectly synchronized and ready for flawless printing!
