Materials: PETG or something that withstands high temperatures. Don't use PLA.
So the reason I made this is that most build-in induction hobs are far cheaper and come with better features than the free-standing ones usually do. Also you might not have the freedom to cut a large rectangle into your kitchen table.
This allows you to have a decent induction hob that you can place wherever you like. Like on top of a dishwasher.
To build this you will need Aluminium Composite plates of 6mm thick, the size depends on your cooking hob but for mine I used 2x 570x100 and 2x 500x100mm. This will fit an Inventum IKI6035 which is 590x520mm wide. The ACP plates cost me about 30 euros total including shipping.
You'll also need a 50mm circular drill and some epoxy glue. Be careful with solvent containing glues as they cannot dry properly between plastic and ACP. Epoxy won't smell.
As shown in the pictures below, the idea is to drill a few holes into the back and front panels (the wider ones) for ventilation.
The plates are glued using epoxy to each corner block and the idea is to make them flush with the protruding part of each corner block so that you get a perfect rectangle. Optionally you can put some silicone caulk or paint at the edges so that there is a nicer transition between the ACP plates and the plastic corner blocks.
At the end you need to cut out a small part so that the power cable can go through it. You may want to add some rubber feet on the bottom and after the glue cures you can finally place your cooking hob on top of it.
Also one picture shows plastic packing material put in the center of the cooking hob. This is so that the air inlet and air outlet of the cooking hob are separated from each other. This will force fresh air in from the back and hot air out from the front allowing for better ventilation.
The model is designed using FreeCAD, if you want to adapt it to your cooking hob model the design file is attached and you can update it however you like. Feel free to share.
